The group aims to conserve and develop the plants and creatures of Worsley Woods and to enhance its value for all the people of Salford. The group meet regularly to discuss new plans and projects. If you would like to get involved in practical conservation activities such as tree and wildflower planting or fence and step construction, conservation mornings are held once a month.

As well as self-guided trails, the Salford Ranger team provides a wide range of exciting activities throughout the year for adults and children alike including walks and talks, orienteering and a range of school education programmes.
A wildflower trail and a series of sculptures can be found in the woods. A play area has been created adjacent to the entrance to Woodstock Drive which is used both by adults as well as children. The woodland by St Marks School has 8 controls which can be used for young beginners as a very short White loop, or for a Star exercise. The Yellow3 goes down to the motorway on one side of the stream, and returns up the other side. The Orange2 is similar and adds in a loop South of the motorway. The South Start offers White 0.
The White course goes up to the motorway and back along the stream; Yellow1 goes round the lake and the woods to the West of it; Yellow2 goes round the lake and the woods towards the motorway; Orange1 heads out towards the North Start and comes back round the lake. The areas could be combined for an extended exercise.
